Hello, creatives and fellow designers today’s post is about the paragraph section of the text studio. These controls give your text and typography paragraph editing options that will affect a larger body of text. When making paragraph edits any changes that are made to a selected portion of the text will alter the entire paragraph that the selected text is partly located within.
Spacing

Leading
This will control the distance between the text baselines, or the vertical gap between lines. For example, if your font is set at 14pt and the leading is set at 14pt you would have a single-spaced paragraph.

Space Before
This will control the vertical space before the selected paragraph that is being edited.

Space After
This will control the vertical space that comes after the selected paragraph that is being edited.

First Line Indent
The first line indent will control with finer detail how much of an indent the first line of a paragraph will have. This is has a bit more control to it as opposed to just hitting the tab key at the beginning of a paragraph.

Left Indent
The left indent will move in the entire left side of the selected paragraph, however, you need to be aware that it will not affect the first line of that paragraph. For that, you must make sure you adjust the first-line indent.

Right Indent
The right indent will move the entire right side of the selected paragraph.
Justification

Word Spacing
When you have a justified paragraph you can move and adjust these sliders to set the minimum, maximum, and desired space between each word of a highlighted paragraph. This is adjusted in terms of a percentage.

Letter Spacing
As with word spacing, when you have a justified paragraph you can move and adjust these sliders to set the minimum, maximum, and desired space between the letters of individual words from a highlighted paragraph. This is also adjusted in terms of a percentage.
Tab Stop

This option is pretty straightforward. The tab stop determines the space before a character when you hit the tab key. You can add or remove additional tab stops but for the most part, the default tab stop will always apply.
These are just the adjustment that can be made at the Paragraph level when using Affinity Designer for iPad. Don’t forget to check out my other posts about the Text Studio, and the Character section, if you have other questions.
