Maybe? maybe not? I think we all have this feeling somedays. Maybe it is the chaos that is this year affecting me. Possibly it is that I am too risk-averse. I am not sure what it is but it has been running though my head a lot lately. Thoughts like do I have enough talent? Am I creative enough? Am I wasting my time trying to create things?
I started 2020 with plans to grow and build a freelance career so that I could juggle my time working with being home with my children. As the pandemic came into sharp relief that became something that I am still hoping to achieve. There have been ups and downs and many new friends along the way but at this point, I cannot in good conscious say that I have achieved my goal yet. I say yet because I do believe that this is possible for me or any of you lovely creatives to achieve with time.
I am no fool; I do not expect great success overnight, and I am more than willing to put in the work to get to where I want to be. No matter what, I plan to continue to try new things and develop my skills. At some point, the stars will align and things will probably work out in the end.
However, it is hard to keep positive when you’re always so unsure of yourself. If you assume failure then you definitely will never succeed.
Someday I hope to look back on what I am writing here to you as well as to myself and think how foolish I was to be so unsure of my talent. I probably will not ever feel that way or think that but at the same time, one can dream that the confidence will appear.
In the end, I know that when you put your mind to it anything in life is attainable. We all have great ability in us to be anything we want to be, and that isn’t because we are naturally good at something or insanely lucky (though those things are possible). It is attainable because when you love something you do it every day and you are constantly thinking about how and when you can work on that something more and more often.
I love art and drawing and thanks to the technology available to me, I can create more with techniques, I was never comfortable with when I was younger. I know I will improve with time as long as I am willing to put in the time it will take to develop my skills. Just know that you will as well, whether it is art, design, finance, coding, or any other skill you hope to achieve you will get to where you want to be with time, patience, and maybe a little bit of positivity.
As always thank you for taking the time to read 💙. Know that I appreciate you and wish you all the luck in the world on your creative endeavors.
Till next time, Happy Designing ❤️!
