MuggleNets Year in Review

Hello creatives, fellow designers, and anyone reading this; today’s post is about MuggleNet’s Year in Review article. Every year the website writes an article about top stories of the year and they needed a featured image for the article on the site.

This was the first design I came up with because I wanted to focus on something that would catch the attention of readers on the site but I also wanted to get people to open the article and see what was chosen as top stories. My thought was that you don’t want to have people just looking at the featured image and skip the article.

I then progressed to tweaking the text based on my initial feedback of the design. I was really excited by this one because again my initial thought was that the graphic should not give away anything about the article. This was not what they went with in the end but I really liked the typography element in it.

Based on the feedback from MuggleNet I started finding ways to incorporate images relating to some of the biggest stories that were mentioned in the article while still including the text elements of the original design. In the end we dropped all the text and just went with a collage of some of the top stories.

In the end this was the collage that I made and became the featured image of the article. I was happy with the quality of the sourced images and how it was able to work on the article. I also whipped up a quick image that was used for their story posts on the social outlets.

As always thank you for taking the time to read 💙. Know that I appreciate you and wish you all the luck in the world on your creative endeavors.

Till next time, Happy Designing ❤️!
