Starting with some art…

Dragon sleeping in front of a castle gate.
Dungeon

If you had a pet dragon, what would you do with him? All dragons should be adorable protectors, in my humble opinion. They keep our castles safe from all that is not right in the world. While dragons aren’t real, I do like the idea that we all have a dragon within us. This dragon keeps us safe, strong, and ready for any challenges that lay ahead in our lives. When the world gets you down, get your inner dragon to roar and show the world how amazing you are.

Now to the Good News…

World first: Finnish city pilots a deposit system to encourage recycling of textile waste

Textile waste is becoming a larger and larger problem that the city of Lahti in Finland aims to close. They will incentivize textile collection for recycling by giving out a voucher for a local coffee shop or pool when donations are made to the pop-up deposit locations. The city hopes that by removing obstacles, recycling will be easier for residents; and putting them one step closer to their goal of being a waste-free city by 2050.

These New Solar Streetlights Stay on when the Power Goes off

A company in Florida called Streetleaf is making streetlights that run on solar power. The lights can be installed in minutes because they do not need to be connected to the grid and have remote monitoring allowing for the brightness to be adjusted when dimming is necessary. They even take light pollution into account for wildlife. The lights were put to the test during last year’s Hurricane Ian, and while everything else had no power the street lights kept running.

The dawn of the 1000km battery

A battery revolution is coming. A company in China claims that its new condensed battery can store double the charge of Tesla’s top-rated battery. The future of transportation will most likely depend on battery range (unless hydrogen fuel can start running your gas-powered engine). This news is an industry game changer that could lower the cost of EVs and cover almost all motorists’ needs in a smaller package. Mass production is expected to hit roads in the next year.
