Starting with some art…
Did you ever work on something and the result wasn’t quite what you wanted? For me this drawing is one of those projects. Despite how I saw the drawing going it did not end up as I would have hoped when put down on to the page. The way I see it though that just means there is still room for improvement. I hope you all had a wonderful week.
Now to the Good News…
Nuclear Fusion Scientists Successfully Recreate Net Energy Gain
Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory just reproduced its nuclear fusion experiment. The biggest news about this experiment over the first, is that the energy gain was higher than the December test. While we are a long way from this being our carbon free fuel source; tests like these show that the science is feasible. Meaning that one day we could use the power of the stars to produce endless clean energy.
Innovative nanomaterial inspired by butterfly wings offers colorful cooling solution
Scientists in China have developed a material designed to keep us cool. They were inspired by the beautiful colors found on peacock feathers and butterfly wings to develop a nanotech that reflects 100% of incident light. They used colorful frosted glass layered on top of alternating coatings of aluminum dioxide and titanium dioxide. The material has proven itself in testing keeping people 27°F (15°C) cooler in winter and 63°F (35°C) during the summer months. As the world continues to warm we need more sustainable carbon free ways to keep cool, making a technology like this a real game changer. I know I would cover my house in this stuff, would you?
Widowed Farmer Fulfills His Late Wife’s Dream Of Creating Art Out Of Their Fields.
In a testament to true love, a farmer in Argentina fulfilled his late wife’s dream of customizing their farm in a unique way. His wife wanted to build a design into their fields so that when you flew over you would see an image. After she died unexpectedly, he determined to fulfill her dream buy building a 2/3 of a mile guitar made out of cypress and blue eucalyptus trees. This is a beautiful way to memorialize someone you love.
