Art & Good News 9-28-2025

From my Art-chive…

Boo's door from Monsters, Inc. is a simple white door with pink and white flowers, and a gold doorknob, wedged into the scare floor frame which transports the monsters into the children’s rooms when activated.

Fan art is a popular way to hone your style as an artist. Usually, when I am playing in the sandbox that is fan art, I have a specific goal in mind. This doodle of Boo’s door was inspired by an Inktober prompt, yet the larger goal was a shift in my illustration style that was so under the surface I didn’t really realize that was what I was doing at the time. It was around the time that I drew this piece of fan art that I started to see how I was evolving as an illustrator, how the look of my drawings was starting to take on a more unique look. It is probably the only good thing about finding different ways to challenge yourself, be it through art challenges like Inktober, or coming up with your own creative ways to challenge and push yourself, like I am slowly trying to do with my good news posts. If you’re so inclined to share, I would love to hear how you find ways to push yourself, be it creatively or otherwise. I hope you all had a wonderful two weeks.

Now to the Good News…

One dolphin jumping above the waves saying "Did you know we could talk?" and a second dolphin poking out its head from the water saying "Well... yeah. Didn't you?"

Could dolphins be speaking a language? New research hints at word-like communication

There is increasing evidence that dolphins may have a language structure that can, with further study, be understood. Scientists at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI) have been conducting studies that point to a possibility that bottlenose dolphins have shared sounds that could represent words.

Global Oceans Treaty Achieves Threshold to Come Into Force

Morocco has officially become the 60th country to ratify the High Seas Treaty. This means that going forward, there is a real global commitment to protect two-thirds of the world’s oceans. The world all agreed in 2023 that 30 percent of the high seas needed protection in order to ensure it can still provide support and survival for not just its own ecosystem but our own. The oceans also provide about 80 percent of the air we breathe. This treaty will pave the way for international collaboration and protection of vital ecosystems.

Till next time keep looking for the good news, and see you in two weeks with more good news.
