Good News Art from 2025

A look back… and New Goals…

From New Years and well into Valentines and I am finally sitting down to think about what a chaos year I had in 2025.

The year was defined by finally burning out and despite my best efforts to keep producing and creating. This really made me sit down and take stock at the end of last year and think about what I wanted as an artist and creative. I was definitely burning the candle at too many ends. From regular work, to fun projects, to juggling my day to day mom life it was just not sustainable. I wasn’t getting anywhere either. Artists all have a similar system, create work, share on social and if you’re lucky enough to go viral you will probably get seen by the right person but in most cases artists are throwing spaghetti into the void (can’t even call it a wall anymore with algorithms being what they are). No matter how many things I tried I never really grow on social media, which is probably part of why I burnt out trying different things, and it of course doesn’t help that between video being more popular and the ever changing algorithm I seem to always be two steps behind.

Unfortunately that is how it felt especially for most of last year and that has truly made me reevaluate how I plan to do art and my work going forward.

After a long few months of reflection and thinking through what I want. I have come to a few conclusions.

One is that I will probably not do my own good news blog anymore. It was a lot of work to put together and there are so many wonderful organizations that do that much better than I ever could. I highly recommend Optimist Daily, GoodGoodGood, and Squirrel News but there are many others as well. If you were here for the good news only and decide to unsubscribe I will miss you but truly understand, and I also recommend you get on the email lists, or download the app in the case of squirrel news, for the above suggestions, they are wonderful and come out daily.

The second thing is that when it comes to blogging and posting I will be doing all of it less. It is just unsustainable for me to write about something every week and still get creative projects done. I want to show more behind the scenes of what I do and show the progress on personal projects and would rather focus on those posts being exceptional than have a weekly meh blog post. I still plan to talk about art and stuff when relevant but will aim for a lower frequency on that. My most popular post to this day is still “Apps to Avoid AI” so clearly I am not the only one looking to find boring or normal ways to be creative. So when I write about art stuff it will be hopefully more relevant, less forced and less spammy in nature.

I have also never been good a promoting myself so I really do appreciate any of you who stick around and read my musings. Happy Valentines day to you all and for those of you looking for a fun movie to share this Valentines, one of my favorite classics is Sabrina, they remade it in the 90’s with Harrison Ford but the best version is still the Audrey Hepburn, and Humphrey Bogart version in my opinion.

Till next time keep failing creatively.
